Cupuacu

The Cupuaçu tree grows in the rainforests of Brazil, but is only farmed in very few places in the Amazon river basin.

Description
Cupuaçu is shaped like a large potato with a brown outer shell and creamy white pulp. The pulp inside Cupuaçu is sought after, with a taste that is often compared to foods like chocolate, banana, melon and even bubble gum.

Brazilian Uses
Cupuaçu has been called “The Pharmacy of the Amazon”. In addition to its health properties, Cupuaçu is in the cacao family so you’ll see that it has uses like chocolate and will see it across a lot of food groups.

How Zola Uses
We use Cupuaçu in our delicious Zola Superfood Smoothie.

Key Benefits
Cupuaçu is often used as a pain killer. Like chocolate, it provides polyphenol antioxidants and benefits to the digestive system. In addition, the theobroides in Cupuaçu act like caffeine to provide alertness and energy. Cupuaçu is also used as a lotion or cream because of it’s rejuvenating properties on skin.
