Learn About Açaí

Açaí berries grow on palm trees in the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil.  The Açaí berry is purple and looks similar to a blueberry that contains a large seed.  Unlike other berries, the Açaí berry is 90% seed and 10% pulp making it impossible to eat raw. The pulp is rich in antioxidants, omega fatty acids and flavor, which is why we say “The Power is in the Pulp™!"

Brazilians top fresh Açaí pulp with meat, fish and other foods. They eat so much that in Belem, a city of over a million people, they consume more Açaí than milk. Look at virtually any street corner in Belem and you’ll see Açaí-only stores everywhere.

In Brazil, Açaí has gone mainstream, spreading throughout the country over the past 8-10 years. Brazilians freeze Açaí and mix it with Guaraná syrup.  (The syrup contains Guaraná seed for energy, as well as organic cane sugar for taste.) Surfers, jujitsu fighters, everyday workers and hip urbanites are driving the huge demand for Açaí. From Rio to Salvador and from Sao Paulo to Fortaleza, people are drinking Açaí pulp for health and energy. Now Americans and people around the world are catching on fast to this Brazilian secret. That’s where Zola comes in!
